Abstract
This Regulation declares that the import of live and chilled bivalve molluscs aimed for human nutrition and originating in Turkey is now prohibited, in order to prevent the presence of the microorganism Escherichia coli and biotoxins, with the objective to protect the human health.
Imports of consignments of frozen and processed bivalve molluscs intended for human consumption originating in Turkey can be performed only if the laboratory examination of each shipment finds that the consignment meets the prescribed requirements in respect of Escherichia coli, and each consignment of frozen or processed bivalve molluscs meets the prescribed requirements in relation to the possible presence of known seafood biotoxins.
If consignments of bivalve molluscs do not meet the above mentioned requirements, these consignments shall be physically destroyed in appropriate manner.

This text transposes the provisions contained in the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 743/2013 introducing protective measures on imports of bivalve molluscs from Turkey intended for human consumption.
