Abstract
This Regulation defines the necessary terms and conditions for the placing on the market of food for special nutritional purpose (such as infant formulas and follow-on formulas; processed cereal-based foods and baby food; food for special medical needs; and diet related foods) in terms of their composition, information and marking.
This Regulation transposes the rules contained in the Commission Directive 2006/141/EC of 22 December 2006 on initial and transitional feed for fattening, that amends the Directive 1999/21/EC; Commission Directive 2006/125/EC of 5 December 2006 on processed cereal-based foods and nutrition for infants and young children; Commission Directive 1999/21/EC of 25 March 1999 on special needs medical nutrition; Commission Directive 96/8/EC of 26 February 1996 on food intended for body mass reduction in energy-restricted diets and implementing Commission Regulation (EU) No. 828/2014 of 30 May 2014 on consumer information requirements on absenteeism or decreased presence of gluten in food.
The Annex is an integral part of this Regulation.
