Abstract
This Regulation determines the maximum permissible levels of residues of plant protection products (also known as pesticides) on/in plants or plant products, food or animal feed, also established in order to protect consumers and to monitor the effective pesticide residues.
Maximum Residue Level (MRL) is the highest level of concentration of pesticide residues in or on food and animal feed which is determined to protect vulnerable groups of the population and to grant the lowest consumer exposure in accordance with good agricultural practices.
Plants or plant products, food or feed products of plant and animal origin or parts thereof which can be used as fresh, processed and/or composite food or feed are also defined under the terms of this Regulation.
This text transposes the rules contained in the Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 February 2005 on maximum residue levels of pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin and amending Council Directive 91/414/EEC.
