Abstract
An Act to establish a Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority and a Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority Fund and to regulate foreign and local fishing. The 55 Sections are divided into 8 Parts: Preliminary (I); Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority (II); Foreign Fishing (III); Activities Other Than Foreign Fishing (IV); Finance (V); Violations and Penalties (VI); Observers and Enforcement Officers (VII); General (VIII).
The Authority is established as a body corporate (sect. 3). The Authority may make regulations to implement the provisions of this Act (sect. 12). The Fund shall serve for expenditures of the Authority and to give effect to provisions of this Act (sect. 32). Sections of Part III and Part IV carry, inter alia, the following Titles: Foreign fishing (14); Foreign Fishing Licences (15); Application for Licences (16); Foreign fishing agreements (19); Regional foreign fishing agreements (20); Development of local fisheries (23); Issue of licences for local fishing vessels (24); Issue of licences for non commercial fishing (25); Issue of licenes for fish processing (26); Agreement relating to fish processing (27).
