Abstract
The purpose of these Regulations is to establish rules and standards governing the design, construction, operation, etc. of solid waste storage, collection and disposal facilities. The Regulations are divided into 8 Parts: General provisions (I); Solid waste storage (II); Solid waste collection (III); Solid waste management responsibility (IV); Solid waste management permit; (V) Standards for solid waste disposal facilities (VI); Standards for hazardous waste disposal (VII).
Article 6 sets out general requirements regarding storage of solid waste. Article 12 defines the responsibility for storage of solid waste. Article 15 concerns responsibility for the removal of animal carcasses. Permits to establish or operate a solid waste disposal facility shall be obtained from the Environmental Protection Authority in accordance with articles 18 to 20. Article 27 prescribes general operating standards for solid waste disposal facilities and section 28 concerns standards for permitted landfills. Standards for other type of waste disposal are prescribed.
