Decision on starting a procedure for awarding a concession for using water for production of electricity from 37 small hydropower plants.

This Regulation, as in accordance with the provisions of the national Law on waters, sets issues for starting related procedure for awarding a concession (for a period of 23 years) for using water for production of electricity from 37 small hydropower plants (on locations as specified in article 3). Waters as goods of general interest are awarded to a concession for production of electricity in order to provide conditions for utilization of energy potential of waters as renewable sources of energy and energy sector development, technological development and overall economic policy, and in line with the objectives of long-term protection and sustainable use, water management, coastal land and aquatic habitats. Objectives to be achieved by granting the concession are: increase of electricity production; improving the security of electricity supply; production of electricity from renewable energy sources.
