Regulation on closer conditions, manner and maximum allowed values and concentrations of the parameters of treated wastewater for their reuse.

This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Law on waters, prescribes detailed conditions, the manner and the maximum allowed values and concentrations of parameters of treated wastewaters that are intended for reuse. The treated wastewater from the waste treatment plants is reused if related purification is appropriate and does not adversely affect human life and health. The treated wastewater can be reused if the parameters and their concentrations in the wastewater are determined by assessment and if prove that its use will not have a negative impact on the environment. The treated wastewater can be reused for technological purposes if the wastewater quality requirements are met and if such water is not part of the product being produced. The treated wastewater can be used for irrigation if with purification follows the requirements listed in the Annex of this publication. In addition to basic conditions, for the reuse of treated urban wastewater for irrigation purposes, the following elements shall be taken into account: soil type; type of irrigated crops, including the irrigation regime; hydrogeological conditions, including the characteristics of related water body, geological-lithological composition, the degree of soil pollution, the ability of soil purification, composition and depth of present groundwater; irrigation technologies, including values that determine the necessary quantities of irrigation water required for appropriate agricultural crop grown. This Regulation is harmonized with the provisions of the Council Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste water treatment.
