Abstract
This Plan, based on the provisions of the national Law on spatial and urban planning, provides for programmed spatial development policy for Ohrid-Prespa region for the period from the year 2005 until 2020. The Ohrid-Prespa region represents a larger part of the territory defined by natural boundaries of two directly connected basins (Ohrid and Prespa), which extends to the territory of two neighboring countries (Republic of Greece and Republic of Albania). Natural compactness and international character of space are demanding the need for effective protection of natural resources, of deriving potentials and present material goods. This Spatial Plan is a long-term, integral, development document that defines the spatial organization of the region, the goals and the concepts of spatial development of separate areas and the conditions for their realization. The Plan is oriented towards finding paths and possibilities for solving complex spatial problems and conflicts in interaction with development processes, flows and restrictions. The lake and the city of Ohrid are declared as part of the World Cultural Heritage, under direct protection of UNESCO.
