Abstract
This Act creates a legal framework for the prevention of quarantine pests from entering Myanmar, for fighting the spreading of quarantine pests, and for carrying out of treatment of plants or plant products for exportation. "Plants" shall include seeds of plants. "Quarantine pest" here means a pest dangerous to plants but not yet in existence in Myanmar, or however not widely spread, but that needs to be controlled. Section 4 provides for certificates for the importation of plants, products, and "beneficial organisms (defined in section 2). Section 6 provides for application for phytosanitary certificates for exportation of plants or plant products. They shall be issued by the Myanma Agricultural Service. Section 9 spells out the duties of the Managing Director of the Myanma Agricultural Service relating to inspections, issue of certificates, disinfecting or disinfestation, etc. (28 sections)
