Abstract
These Regulations lay down general principles for the assessment of risk posed by substances to man and environment as required by regulation 4.2 of the Dangerous Substances (Notification) Regulations, 2001. Risk assessment shall be carried out in accordance with provisions set out in regulations 5 and 6. The risk assessment shall entail hazard identification and, as appropriate, dose (concentration)- response (effect) assessment, exposure assessment and risk characterisation. Regulation concerns risk assessment relative to human health, whereas regulation 6 concerns risk assessment relative to the environment.
