Abstract
Section 2 contains a long list of interpretations including "active substances", "harmful organisms", "integrated control", "nematodes", and "residues". The Director of the Department responsible for plant health shall, acting on advice of the Pesticides Control Board (established under section 10), process applications for the authorization to place "products" on the market, shall keep a register of pesticides, and shall implement provisions of this Act and Regulations made under sections 4 and 5 of this Act. The Director shall also prepare annually a pesticides residue monitoring programme (sect. 3). The Minister may require sampling of produce of which he believes that it contains residues of pesticides in excess of allowed levels (sect. 6). Sections 7 and 8 provide for powers of the Director in respect of inspection for purposes of this Act and measures to be taken on results of analysis of produce or pesticides. Section 11 concerns use of pesticides for research purposes. (12 sections)
