Restrictions on Placing on the Market of Single-Use Plastic Products Regulations, 2020.

These Regulations bring into effect Article 5 and Article 6(1) and (2) of Directive (EU) 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment. After providing for some definitions for the interpretation of the text, the regulations set a prohibition, as from 1 January 2021, of placing on the market single-use plastic and products made from oxo-degradable plastic (listed in Part A of the Schedule) and, as from 3 July 2024, the placing on the market of the single-use plastic products (listed in Part B of the Schedule) that have caps and lids made of plastic. The regulations further provide for offences against the above and relevant penalties.
