Seeds of Agricultural Plants and Vegetables (Amendment) Regulations, 2022 (L.N. 127 of 2022).

These Regulations amend the Seeds of Agricultural Plants and Vegetables Regulations ("the principal regulations"). The scope of these Regulations is to transpose Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2021/1927 of 5 November 2021 amending Annexes I and II to Council Directive 66/402/EEC as regards the requirements for seeds of hybrid wheat produced by means of cytoplasmic male sterility.
Point C of Section 1, Part I, Cereals of Schedule II to the principal regulations is substituted by a new Point C concerning crops to produce particular cereals by means of a technique other than Cytoplasmic Male Sterility (CMS). Also, a new point 4 is added after point 3 with regard a) to the standards of distance which crops must respect from neighbouring sources of pollen; b) to the varietal identity and purity as regards the characteristics of the components that crops must have; c) to the production of certified seeds that must be produced in mixed cultivation of a female male-sterile component with a male component, which restores fertility.
In Schedule III, point C of Part I of Section 1 is substituted by a new point C on the minimum varietal purity of the seed for each certified category of plants. Also the heading of Point E of Part I of Section 1 is amended.
