Abstract
These Regulations make provision in order to assure that any propagation and planting material of vegetables other than seed produced, placed on the market in Malta or being transhipped through Malta prior to its transport to another Member State meets specified standards of quality. The application scope encompasses vegetable propagation and planting material, other than seeds, of the genera, species and their hybrids, listed in Schedule I. As a general rule, no person shall produce, place on the market in Malta or tranship through Malta prior to its transport to another Member State any propagation material unless this has been certified by the Director responsible for the Department of Plant Health for any such purpose. On the other hand, vegetable propagation and planting material may be marketed only by accredited suppliers. Official inspections shall be carried out as provided in regulation 15.
