Abstract
These Regulations apply to any foreign fishing boat or vessel licensed under section 34 and 35 of the Act; any Mauritian fishing boat or vessel licensed under section 36 of the Act. They don't apply to Mauritian fishing boats of a length of less than 12 metres.
The Regulations sets provisions concerning the operational vessel tracking units required on board of vessels registered under section 34 or 35 and 36 of the Act, including on board of Mauritian fishing boats or vessels licensed under section 36.
The Regulations further set prohibitions on vessels or boats to leave a port of Mauritius or another State unless the boat or vessel is equipped with an operational vessel tracking system. The Regulations provide full details of the operational and technical requirements that the tracking system must respond to in order for the vessel to sail.
If the VMS unit ceases to operate the master or operator of a boat or vessel shall ensure that the owner or agent is notified immediately.
