General Regulations on Water and Sewerage Services in the Maldives, no. R/23 of 2021.

These Regulations, made under provisions of Act no. 8/2020 (Water and Sewerage Act), and of Act no. 26/2020 (Utility Regulatory Authority Act), provide for: defining measures concerning the installation of water and sewerage systems; the preparation of water and sewerage Plans; testing and certification of equipment used for the installation of water and sewerage systems; the protection of water and sewerage systems. The Regulations concern: description of stages and phases for establishing a water and sewerage system, including preparation of an environmental impact report; definition of standards for the water and sewerage systems; description of eventual damages caused to water and sewerage systems by natural causes; measures for ensuring the safety and the quality of the systems; registration and licensing of water and sewerage systems; licenses required to provide water and sewerage services; supply of water in villages and prohibition of discharge into any village watershed; prevention of water pollution; handling and storage of treatment chemicals used in the operation and service of water and sewerage systems.
