Abstract
This Act makes provision in order to control supplies, giving particular regard to foodstuffs, including animal products (birds, reptiles, fish and their eggs) and feedstuffs intended for animals destined for human consumption. The Act consists of the following Parts: (I) Preliminary; (II) Powers of Controller; (III) Offences and Penalties; (IV) Miscellaneous and Repeal.
Section 3 provides for the appointment of a Controller of Supplies, Deputy Controllers of Supplies, Assistant Controllers of Supplies and other officers engaged in the performance of controls and inspections for the purposes of this Act. Such controls shall be carried out on foodstuffs declared by the Minister as controlled and rationed articles as per section 5. Part II, as referred to above, contains detailed provisions regarding powers of controllers, including the power to obtain information (section 8), to enter premises (section 9) as well as power of arrest, investigation and prosecution.

The Act came into force on 1 July 1963 in West Malaysia and on 5 March 1964 in East Malaysia.

This Act has repealed the Food Control Ordinance No. 16 of 1939, the Food Control Enactment No. 21 of 1939 as well as the Food Control Enactment No. 15 of 1939.
