Abstract
This Act regulates a number of aspects of the electricity supply industry, including: the supply of electricity at reasonable prices; the licensing, registration and control of any electrical installation, plant and equipment with respect to matters relating to the safety of persons; and the efficient use of electricity.
The Act defines functions, duties and powers of the Energy Commission established under the Energy Commission Act 2001, which include: to issue licences; to exercise regulatory functions in respect of the service of providing electricity by the licensee; to promote competition in the generation and supply of electricity; and to promote the efficient use of electricity.
The Act further provides for: terms, conditions and contents of licences required for the use of installations; registration of installations; standards, specifications, practices and measures to be adopted in respect of the efficient use of electricity; offences and penalties; etc.

An Act to provide for the regulation of the electricity supply industry, the supply of electricity at reasonable prices, the licensing of any electrical installation, the control of any electrical installation, plant and equipment with respect to matters relating to the safety of persons and the efficient use of electricity and for purposes connected therewith.
Notes
This Act repeals the Electricity Act 1949 (Act 116) and the Electrical Inspectorate Act 1983 (Act 277).
