Abstract
The Rules are divided into the following Parts: Introductory (I); The Taking of Forest Produce (II); Liability for and Payment of Royalty and Fees (III); Control of Forest Produce in Transit (IV); General (V).
The taking of forest produce is subject to the granting of a licence according to the procedure set out in Part II. All forest produce cut, sawn, converted, collected or removed under any licence or licence agreement shall be liable to royalty at the rates prescribed in Schedule II (art. 12). All timber and any other forest produce lawfully cut or collected shall be accompanied by a transit pass and taken to a checking station, and shall not thereafter be removed unless it be accompanied by a permit issued by an authorized officer or unless it bears a Government mark (art. 15).
Part V regulates the construction of plants as well as the registration and control of vehicles to be used for the extraction or removal of timber (or any purposes connected therewith).
The Rules are followed by three Schedules regarding the following: Commercial Species (I); Royalties and fees (II); Specimens of the forms to be filled for the different purposes by the person concerned (e.g., licence to take forest produce, certificate of identity, disposal permits for forest products, licence to erect and/or operate sawmill, etc.).
