Abstract
This Ministerial Decision approves the Regulation of the National Institute of Mining (INAMI). This Regulation, consisting of 67 articles divided into eight Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned institution, as the regulatory authority responsible for mining activity, guidelines for public and private sector participation in research, exploration, treatment, export and import of mineral products and their derivatives. In particular, the National Institute of Mining is responsible to: propose development policies for the mining sector and monitor their implementation; analyse and approve technical and economic studies for new mines as well as the rehabilitation and/or closure of old mines; prepare the processes related to the attribution of exploration licensing, mining concessions and mineral water concessions under the Mining Law Regulation; promote, support and control the exploration and extraction, use and exploitation of mineral resources, excluding oil and gas; promote, support small-scale mining, taking into account the minimization of negative environmental and social impacts resulting from this activity.
