Abstract
This Ministerial Decision, consisting of 5 articles, establishes minimum depths and distances from shore or geographic areas for shrimp and lobster fishing for reasons of conservation of fisheries resources and fisheries management under the Marine Fisheries’ Regulation, approved by Decree No. 43/2003. Article 1 specifies that shrimp trawling only can be pursued: a) in the Sofala Bank, between parallels 16° South and 21° South beyond 12 nautical miles from the coast and at depths from 250 metres; b) outside the Sofala Bank, north of parallel 16° South and south of 21° South, beyond 3 nautical miles from the coast and at depths from 250 metres. Article 2 establishes that trap cage and traps for lobster fishing only can be exercised south of the parallel 21° south beyond 3 nautical miles from the coast and at depths of 100-250 metres. Article 3 deals with monitoring and evaluation and administrative logbooks under the responsibility of the National Fisheries Administration and the National Institute for Fisheries Research.
