Abstract
This Ministerial Order approves the Regulation of the Institution of Almonds of Mozambique (IAM, IP). The Regulation, consisting of 64 articles divided into six Chapters, establishes the organizational norms and functioning of the IAM, crated by Decree No. 50/2020 of 1 July. In particular, IAM is responsible for: a) promote the development, trade, processing, industrialization and export of almonds; b) supervise the activities of development, production, trade, processing and export of almonds; c) prepare and implement, in coordination with specialized national and international institutions, research and technology transfer actions for the production, processing and industrialization of almonds; d) analyse and decide on the pertinence of introducing seeds or plant segments of almonds into the country; e) promote programmes to educate producers on measures to control pests and diseases, and to prevent and combat uncontrolled burning; f) classify and attribute the technological quality of almonds for marketing inside and outside the country; g) ensure compliance with the technical standards of production, soil conservation and environmental protection in the implementation of actions relating to the cultivation and industrialization of almonds; h) coordinate actions with the players in the almond value chain in the areas of production, marketing, processing, industrialization and export; i) act as a marketing agent of last resort, to relaunch and ensure the disposal of production from crops under its tutelage, in the absence of private agents; j) establish memorandums of understanding, contracts, cooperation agreements and other forms of liaison with national and foreign bodies and institutions that are similar or directly or indirectly concerned with the production, marketing, processing and export of almonds; k) establish partnerships with a view to developing business within and outside the country; and l) encourage the development of institutions of related common interest.
