Abstract
This Resolution approves the Strategy on the Conflict Management between Human beings and Wildlife and its related implementation Plan. This Strategy, consisting of seven Sections and one Annex, aims to ensure the protection of people and their assets through the adoption of conflict management strategies to meet human needs and wildlife conservation, taking into account the balance of social, economic and ecological needs. The main types of conflicts in the country are characterized by: (i) intrusion into the agricultural lands and sometimes attacks on people and their property, by elephants and hippos, especially when seeking water and food or when these animals are under threat or injury; (ii) attacking people and domestic animals by crocodiles along watercourses; (iii) attack on domestic animals and invasion to pens or animal fences sometimes attacking people, by lions, leopards and other predators, when injured, trapped or starved; (iv) invasion of agricultural lands and disturbance of people in residential areas by monkeys and wild pigs; (v) invasion of barns and agricultural lands; and (vi) attack on the cereal fields by birds and grasshoppers.
