Decree No. 12/2002 approving the Regulation on Forestry and Wildlife.

This Decree, composed of two articles and one Annex, approves the Forestry and Wildlife Regulation implementing Forest Act No. 10/99. The Annex, composed of 119 articles divided in nine Chapters, aims at regulating all activities related to conservation, use, exploitation and production of forest and wildlife resources, including their commercialization, transport, storage and transformation. The annexed Regulation defines protected areas’ and national parks’ institutional and management procedures and rules on the sustainable use of forestry and wildlife resources. Particular attention is paid to classification of timber species, regulation of hunting activities and related licensing procedures. Finally, the Regulation provides control and monitoring measures and defines the Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development as competent authority.
