Abstract
The 26 sections of the Act are divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary Provisions (I); Establishment, composition, proceedings and powers of the Board (II); Advisory committees and inspectors of the Board (III); Finances, accounts and auditing (IV); Miscellaneous provisions (V); Final provisions (VI).
The Act shall apply to agronomic crops and agronomic products. Agronomic crop means a crop declared to be such by the Minister, by Notice in the Gazette (sects. 1 and 2). The body corporate established under section 3 of the Agronomic Industry Proclamation, 1985, and known as the South-West Africa Agronomic Board, shall continue to exist as the Namibian Agronomic Board (sect. 3). The Board shall promote the agronomic industry and facilitate the production, processing, storage and marketing of controlled products in Namibia (sect. 9). The Minister may, on recommendation of the Board, or after consultation with the Board: (a) impose a general or special levy on controlled products (sect. 18); (b) prohibit the sale of controlled products in specified areas (sect. 19); (c) fix prices of controlled products; (d) restrict the importation or exportation of controlled products (sect. 21).
