Abstract
This Act makes provision for the control on the trade in and placing on the market and use of fertilizers, pesticides and biological control agents for use in agriculture, products for the feeding of domestic animals or livestock and substances used for the maintenance or improvement of health of domestic animals, livestock, poultry, birds, wild animals or fish.
All the substances covered by this Act and sterilizing plants and pest operators shall be registered with the Registrar appointed under this Act. The Act further contains rules relative to importation, packing, labelling, manufacture, sale, inspection, etc. of these substances and the use of sterilizing plants. A sterilizing plant is a plant used for the sterilizing of bones and other substances of animals. The Minister may by notice in the Gazette: (a) prohibit the acquisition, disposal, sale or use of fertilizers, farm feeds, agricultural remedies or stock remedies; or (b) prohibit such acquisition, disposal, sale or use, except in accordance with such conditions as may be specified in the notice or except under the authority of and in accordance with such conditions as may be specified in a permit issued by the registrar, and may in like manner repeal or amend any such notice.
