Abstract
These Regulations, surviving the under Animal Health Act, prescribe that no cattle, sheep, goats, pigs or other cloven-hoofed animals shall be moved into or out of the foot and mouth areas described in the schedules hereto, or from any one place to any other place within those areas, except under the authority of a written permit issued by a state veterinarian and subject to such conditions as he or she may specify in such permit. Restrictions are also placed on the moving out or moving within an areas of other defined animal product or defined vegetable product from such areas.

The Regulations relating to Foot and Mouth Disease Areas and Restrictions in Connection with Foot and Mouth Disease were originally made in terms of section 27 of the Animal Diseases and Parasites Ordinance 34 of 1959, which was then repealed by the Animal Diseases and Parasites Amendment Act 9 of 1973, which was subsequently repealed by the Animal Health Act 1 of 2011. Pursuant to section 37(2) of the Animal Health Act 1 of 2011, the Regulations relating to Foot and Mouth Disease Areas and Restrictions in Connection with Foot and Mouth Disease are deemed to have been made under that Act.
