Abstract
This Act makes provisions for the proper keeping of animals and related matters and the protection of animals from cruel treatment. Act does not apply to fish or animals specified in the second column of the First Schedule of the Endangered Animals and Plants Act. Importation of animals requires a permit from the Minister responsible for the environment. Certain considerations specified in section 4 may be made by the Minister in deciding whether or not to grant such permit. The Minister may make further regulation with respect to the keeping of animals under section 7. Cruel behaviour versus animals is prohibited under section 8. The Act provides also for the destruction of injured animals. (21 sections)
