Abstract
These Regulations, also for the purposes of transposing into the law of Gibraltar Directive 2006/118/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2006 on the protection of groundwater against pollution and deterioration, are here setting the requirements for the implementation of related ground water pollution prevention provisions.
Contents of this text are divided into main 8 Regulations, as follows: Title; Interpretation; Threshold values; Assessment of groundwater chemical status; Significant and sustained upward trends and the definition of starting points for trends reversals; Prevention or limitation of inputs of pollutants into groundwater; Exemptions-Liability of bodies corporate; Transitional arrangements.
Schedules 1-5 are also part of this publication (Threshold values for groundwater pollutants and indicators of pollution; Groundwater quality standards; Assessment of groundwater chemical status; Identification and reversal of significant and sustained upward trends; Indicative list of the main pollutants).
Entry into force notes
These Regulations shall come into operation on the day of publication.
