Jammu and Kashmir Consumer Protection Act, 1987.

This Act provides for the establishment of the State Consumer Protection Council to promote and protect the rights of the consumers. The Act defines the composition of the Council and provides for its objects.
The Act also establishes a Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in each division of the State to be known as “Divisional Forum” and a Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to be known as the “State Commission”. The Act provides for the composition and jurisdiction of the Consumer Disputes Redressal agencies and for the manner and procedures in which complaints shall be made.
