Jammu and Kashmir Forest Act, 1930 (Act No. II of Samvat 1987).

This Act provides for the preservation and management of demarcated and undemarcated forests in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
The Act recognizes the power of the Government to declare any land which is property of the Government as demarcated forest. The Government shall further specify the limits of such forests and regulate the exercise of concessions. The Government shall also be responsible for the management and control of undemarcated forests and shall have the power to regulate concessions in demarcated forests. Penalties for acts prohibited in demarcated and undemarcated forests are set out in the text.
The Government shall have the power to constitute any land as village forest and shall make rules to regulate and control timber and other forest produce in transit.
The Act further provides for: collection of drift and stranded timber; offences and penalties; cattle trespassing in demarcated forests; appointment of Forest Officers; etc.
