Abstract
This Act provides for improvement of the areas destroyed by natural calamities in Jammu and Kashmir. Section 3 provides for improvement scheme to be declared by the government in areas destroyed, wholly or in part, by fire, flood, earthquake or any other natural calamity. It lays down the procedure for publication and sanction of such scheme. Section 4 lays down the matters that may be dealt within the scheme including redistribution of land boundaries, water supply, drainage and sewerage, construction of houses and other matters mentioned therein. The Act further provides for obligations of owners after scheme is sanctioned, demolition of buildings, penalties, and land acquisition.
