Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Corporation and defines its composition and conduct of business.
The Act specifies functions and powers of the Corporation, which include: undertake removal and disposal of trees and exploitation of forest resources entrusted to it by the Government; undertake research programmes relating to forests and forest products; manage, maintain and develop the forest entrusted to it by the Government; set up factories for processing forest raw materials; and establish, maintain and operate laboratories, and experimental and research stations.
The Act further provides for: funds of the Corporation; accounts and audit reports; external control of the Government; annual reports of the Corporation; etc.
