Abstract
This Act provides for regulation of production and sale of vegetable seeds in the state of Jammu Kashmir. Section 3 gives power to the government to regulate the cultivation and production of vegetable seeds and require registration of seed growers and seed farms. It also provides for the varieties of the vegetable seeds that may be produced. Section 4 allows the government to regulate the stocking, sale and export of vegetable seeds of standard quality produced in a registered seed farm. It requires registration of seed growers, seed dealers and obtaining of export permit. Section 5 requires the registered seed growers to follow the prescribed methods of cultivation of vegetable crops for seed production. The Act further provides for the powers of Director of Agriculture with regards to destruction of sub-standard quality of crops or seeds, disposal of harmful crops, and entering any land for inspection and seizure of seeds.
