Abstract
These Regulations are here setting the food safety related rules as regards the full cycle of processing, sale, use, control and labelling of materials that are designated as food and will come into direct contact with food and foodstuff.
Contents of this text are divided into III main Parts (Preliminary; Composition and labelling of materials and articles; Administration and enforcement) and 17 sub sections, as follows: Title and Commencement and Revocation (1); Interpretation (2); Exemptions (3); Sale etc of material articles (4); Vinyl chloride monomer (5); Regenerated cellulose film (6); Labelling and description of materials and articles sold by retail (7); Labelling and description of materials and articles sold otherwise than by retail (8); Restrictions on use of description “ food for use” (9); Materials and articles as prizes etc. (10); Powers of authorized officers (11); Analysis examination and testing (12); Method of analysis (13); Obstruction (14); Confidentiality (15); Penalties (16); Application of various sections of the Act (17).
Schedules 1 and 2 are also part of this publication (Schedule 1-Substances permitted for use in the manufacture of regenerated cellulose film, Substances permitted for use in the manufacture of uncoated regenerated cellulose film, Substances permitted for use in the manufacture of coated regenerated cellulose film; and schedule 2– Symbol that may accompany materials and articles intended for contact with food).

Entry into force notes
These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of February 1990.

Consolidated version. Commission Directive 81/432/EEC of 29 April 1981 laying down the Community method of analysis for the official control of vinyl chloride released by materials and articles into foodstuffs is also involved
