Abstract
This Act provides for the complete set of general provisions and rules in relation to food and drug safety (human consumption; general protection and safety measures for purchasers of food and drugs).
The Act is divided into IV main parts, and 63 sections. The tiles are as follows: General provisions as to food and drugs (I); Milk, dairies and cream substitutes (II); Administration, enforcement and legal proceedings (III); Miscellaneous and general (IV). Topics elaborated in these sections are: composition and labelling of food and drugs; food unfit for human consumption; hygiene in connection with sale of food to the public (food hygiene regulations); registration of premises in connection with sale of food; special provisions as to sale, etc., of particular foods; complete milk and dairies rules; food poisoning; sampling and analysis, inspection and official controls; enforcement procedures and methods; various legal and penalty proceedings; and necessary compensation issues.
Schedules 1-6 are also part of this publication (containing the list of certain relevant diseases; refusal and cancellation of registration of dairymen and dairies; diseases of cows or goats; administrative form of certificate to be given by the public analyst; issues on; list of food not to be regarded as open food).
