Order No. 1 on fishing quotas for 1986.

The Order applies to total allowable catch for 1986 which specifications are indicated in the attached Annex 1. The number of licences and their validity is determined by the quotas and vessels’ fishing capacity. Suspension of fishing activities shall be notified by local authorities via radio and press. By-catch regulations apply to vessels when they have access to cod- and halibut-fishing in the Western and Eastern Greenland waters (specified in Annex 1); when TAC ceiling for cod is reached.
By bottom trawl fishing, by-catch of cod – which shall be retained onboard after sorting, shall not exceed 10% of the weight of redfish catch and/or 3% weight of other species’ catch. By-catch of cod retained on-board shall not exceed 10% of weight of halibut catch and 3% weight of other species’ catch. Cod catches are calculated as percentage of the weight of all fish after sorting, or of the weight of all landing fish. The calculation of the catch must be made latest 48 hours after beginning of fishing activities.
