Abstract
The Order sets regulations on protection and hunting of polar bears (Ursus maritimus) in Greenland terrestrial and fishing territory where it is protected. There are special provisions for access to the National Park in North and East Greenland and Nature Reserve in Melville Bay, including provisions for the catch of in these areas. The government though sets an annual quota for polar bear hunting in adherence to international agreements and biological advice and is subject to hunting license requirement. It is only allowed to hunt polar bears between 1 September and 30 June. Exceptions are made in Ittoqqortoormiit and Ammassalik municipality where quota for polar bear hunt is allowed between 1 October and 31 July.

The Order enters into force on 15 October 2005.
Notes
Persons with a valid commercial hunting permit may, notwithstanding provisions in article 5, section 1, in the period from entry into force and until the first quota year beginning on 1 January 2006, may hunt polar bears without a license.
