Order No. 6 on fishing licence.
Type of law
Regulation
Abstract
This Order sets rules on fishing license in the area between the coast and a line that is located 3 miles outside the base line of the fishing territory. Licenses are issued for a maximum of one year and granted to vessels approved by the National Board of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture only. They can be temporary with fishing quota requirements (commercial fishing for all species with vessels of 75 BRT or more, for scallops regardless of vessel size, or for Greenlandic registered vessels operating in fishing territories subject to international regulations), or temporary without fishing quota requirements (commercial fishing for halibut, crab and cod, for foreign vessels operating in Greenland fishing territory where allowed quota is subject to their national regulations and for experimental fishing). Unlimited license requiring a total allowance for commercial fishing applies to shrimp fishing and in defined Greenlandic fishing areas.
