Abstract
This Greenland Home Rule regulation regulates packaging for beer and carbonated soft drinks with the aim of protecting the environment. In West Greenland, such beverages may only be sold and served in refillable returnable packaging specified in the Annex, while in North and East Greenland they are restricted to single-use containers included in a government-approved deposit-return system. Sellers must provide detailed information on packaging types, return rates, and deposit levels, and the government can impose additional conditions if environmental or waste management concerns arise. Exceptions for single-use packaging are allowed in cases of supply difficulties or special circumstances. Municipal councils are responsible for enforcement, with authority to demand the removal of non-compliant packaging, and violations can result in fines for individuals, companies, or even municipalities and the Home Rule itself.
