Abstract
This regulation of the Government of Greenland sets out the rules for subsidies to support the takeover, establishment, or re-establishment of farms. It allows one subsidy per project, payable over a maximum of three years, to individuals aged 21–65 who meet legal requirements for farming. Eligible applicants include those starting new farms, taking over existing ones requiring rehabilitation, or relocating due to land shortages. Decisions on granting subsidies are made by the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture in consultation with agricultural bodies, considering factors such as whether farming will be the applicant’s main occupation, proper balance of land, machinery, and livestock, and orderly project progress. The size and cost-sharing of subsidies are agreed between municipalities and the Ministry. Payments may be stopped or reclaimed if conditions are breached, false information is given, or eligibility lapses.
