Regulation No. 33 on salmon fishing.

This Regulation of the Government of Greenland sets out rules for both commercial and non-commercial salmon fishing within Greenland’s waters, including special provisions for the Kapisillit River. It requires licenses for all salmon fishing, defines eligibility criteria, and regulates the types of gear allowed. Commercial fishing is subject to quotas set annually in line with international agreements, with mandatory reporting of catches (including zero catches) to the Greenland Fisheries License Control. Non-commercial fishing is also quota-based, limited to private consumption, and similarly subject to licensing and reporting obligations. Specific restrictions apply to fishing near and within the Kapisillit River, where only rod fishing with single hooks is permitted, and catch-and-release may be imposed. Violations can result in fines and legal sanctions.
