Abstract
This regulation of the Government of Greenland sets detailed rules for the hunting and protection of wild musk oxen (Ovibos moschatus) in Greenland. It establishes closed seasons, quotas, licensing requirements, and municipal responsibilities for allocation of hunting rights. Hunting is restricted to licensed individuals, with quotas and timeframes determined based on biological advice and local knowledge. Both subsistence and paid hunting are regulated, including rules for sale, reporting of catches, and proper conduct during hunts. Specific provisions cover the use of firearms, bows, dogs, and motorized vehicles, as well as humane killing and handling of animals. Exceptions are provided for research, teaching, nuisance animals, and special circumstances. Violations can lead to fines, confiscation, or loss of hunting rights.
