Abstract
This Act regulates the keeping of dogs and cats, with a special focus on protecting the Greenland sled dog breed. The law applies to all pet ownership, whether commercial or not, and defines specific sled dog districts where only Greenlandic sled dogs may be kept, prohibiting the import of other dog breeds. It sets out rules on animal welfare, including housing, treatment, feeding, and euthanasia, and prohibits harmful practices such as mutilation and abandonment. Kennels and animal facilities require permits, and dangerous or aggressive dogs must be euthanized. Owners are liable for damages caused by their pets, and authorities are empowered to monitor, enforce regulations, and impose penalties for violations.
