Regulation No. 6 on coastal fishing for halibut.

This Greenland Home Rule regulation sets out rules on coastal halibut fishing and applies to vessels under 75 BRT/120 BT operating within three nautical miles of the baseline. Commercial fishing requires an annual license that specifies vessels and may impose area restrictions, while non-commercial fishing is limited to residents for personal use without trawls or nets. Larger vessels and shrimp trawlers are excluded in several municipalities, and new licenses are only granted if equivalent capacity is withdrawn. The use of gillnets or trawls is generally banned, with minimum mesh sizes enforced where permitted. Catches must be landed at approved Greenlandic facilities, which report details to the Fisheries License Control Authority. All gear must be marked, and vessels are required to cooperate with inspection authorities. The Directorate for Fisheries may grant exemptions in specific circumstances. Violations lead to fines, corporate liability, confiscation, or license withdrawal.
