Abstract
The Regulation provides tables including tolerance levels for the respective substances.
This Regulation is composed of 14 articles: food which can be brought into trade in SFRJ may contain residues of pesticides and other toxic substances, hormones, antibiotics and micotoxines in the quantities prescribed by this Regulation (art. 1.); chemical substances which are considered as pesticides are described in art. 2; as toxic substances as regards this Regulation are considered: lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, methyl-mercury,zinc, tin, arsenic, copper, iron and other toxic metals and non-metals (art. 3); maximum quantities of pesticides permitted in foodstuffs are prescribed in Table I which makes integral part of this Regulation; maximum quantities of pesticides permitted in drinking water are prescribed in Table II; the above-mentioned prescriptions shall not be applied to the foodstuffs of plant origin while they are stored in producer's wharehouse (art. 4); the tollerances for flavours, spices, additives and similar products, for tea, broth concentrates, milk powder etc. (art. 5); foodstuffs which contain residues of two or more pesticides can be brought into trade if the sum of percents of residues of each pesticide and of harmful metabolite in relation to their tollerance does not exceed 100% (art. 6); foodstuffs of animal origin can be commercialized in case they contain quantities of hormones which can be proved by the prescribed or by recognized methods (art. 9); milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, eggs and egg-products, fresh-water fish and honey can be brought into trade if they do not contain quantities of antibiotics in quantities which can be proved by prescribed or by the recognized methods (art. 10); foodstuffs which don't meet requirements for sanitary wholesomeness prescribed by this Regulation shall not be used for human consumption and shall not be commercialized (art. 12).

This Regulation implements art. 36 of the Act on sanitary wholesomeness of foodstuffs and articles of general use (Sluzbeni list SFRJ no. 55/78) and it supersedes the Regulation on maximum permitted quantities of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics in food (Sluzbeni list SFRJ nos. 26/80 and 51/81).
