Abstract
These Regulations are here setting the complete food safety related rules and issues necessary for solvents used in food and foodstuff.
Contents of this text are divided into 10 sections as follows: Title and Commencement (1); Interpretation (2); Exemptions (3); Sale of solvents and food containing solvents (4); Advertising of solvents (5); Labelling of solvents (6); Condemnation of food (7); Penalties (8); Defences (9); Application of various sections of the Act (10).
Schedules 1-2 are also part of this publication (list of permitted food solvents; guidelines on the labelling of food solvents).
This text also involves the provisions contained in the Council Directive 78/663/EEC of 25 July 1978 laying down specific criteria of purity for emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners and gelling agents for use in foodstuffs
Entry into force notes
These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1987.
