Abstract
These Regulations regulate fishing by foreign fishing craft in the exclusive economic zone of Tokelau.
The Regulations provide for the licensing of foreign fishing craft to fish in the exclusive economic zone. Separate licensing regimes are established for vessels depending upon whether they are purse seine vessels, non-purse seine vessels, or foreign fishing craft that hold regional licences. The Regulations set out: procedures and requirements to obtain a licence; licence conditions; licensing fees; etc. The Administrator of Tokelau shall be appointed as the licensing authority.
The Regulations further provide for: prohibition on the trans-shipment of catch in the territorial sea and in the exclusive economic zone; prohibition on possession and use of driftnets in the territorial sea and in the exclusive economic zone; offences and penalties; etc.
