Abstract
This Act provides rules relative to the registration and (control of) the practice of veterinary practitioners. A person who is not a registered veterinary practitioner or an authorized visiting veterinary practitioner under this Act shall not practise veterinary science (as defined).
The Veterinary Practitioners Council, established under this Act, shall maintain the “Register of Veterinary Practitioners” and ensure the maintenance of acceptable standards of professional conduct by persons registered as veterinary practitioners or acting as animal health assistants.

Entry into force notes
This Act shall come into operation on such day or days as the Minister may appoint by Notice published in the Gazette and different days may be appointed for different provisions of the Act to come into operation.
