Abstract
This Act requires the Minister to appoint annually a Board to be called the Board of Agriculture (sect. 2). In the exercise of his powers and duties under this Act and any other enactment which relates to matters of agriculture and related matters, the Minister may consult with, or take the advice of, the Board. Section 4 defines the general functions of the Minister of Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Parks is established under section 5. The Minister may through Regulations promote improvement of livestock under section 12. Sections 13 to 16 concern measures against prevention of animal diseases, whereas sections 17 to 44 provide for measures to control diseases and pests affecting plants. The Inspector shall be the responsible officer, under the direction of the Director, for the proper carrying out of regulations made under this Act relating to the inspection of produce (sect. 27). All vegetable seeds sold or offered for sale in Bermuda shall be subject to this Act and of Regulations made under section 46. Section 47A regulates the importation of pesticides, whereas section 47B regulates the sale of pesticides. The Minister may issue Regulations regarding farm products, i.e. all agricultural and horticultural products intended for consumption in Bermuda, pursuant to section 49.
